Q&A by J. Nyby: Q&A with ALLFACESDOWN

ALLFACESDOWN is an european (Vienna, AUT) Post-Hardcore band with 5 members: Georg - Vocals, Roman - Guitar/Vocals, Mario - Guitar, Florian - Bass and Christopher - Drums.

Jeff: You're quite known in the austrian area. Do you have any other special successes in other areas?

AFD: We played our first international shows in the end of 2010, and these shows were simply incredible. Especially Milan and Prague were awesome places to play. In 2011 we’ll definitely play there again and hopefully also in more exotic destinations ;)

Jeff: There are two sorts of musicians. The one's who just wanna be famous and rich, really obsessed people or the ones who play their songs without giving a shit what people care about them. What sort do you think are you?

AFD: We are definitely a band which does not simply give a shit about what people care about it. We want to make music for all the people out there, and we really hope that they enjoy the songs. We don’t make music because we want to be some fucking rockstars. We love to make music, we write songs which we would hear on our own, and we try to reach people with it. Without fans, a band cant survive, and fans mean a lot to us

Jeff: Are there any particular plans for the future?

AFD: Our plan is to find an international label this year! So if there is a label out there which wants to work with
us don’t hesitate to contact us! 2011 will furthermore be a year in which we will definitely play more shows than ever before.

Jeff: How would you describe your music in 5 words?

AFD: Powerful, aggressive, melodic, modern, fun

Jeff: Think back in the age of 10 how were you thinking about your after-life? And do you think musician will be a job you'll held forever?

AFD: When we were 10 life was different. We were everything, but no musicians..
But over the years we began playing instruments, we started to play with other musicians, and we had fun when we did that. And now we love it that much that we wanna play shows around the world under ALLFACESDOWN. Our target is, to be able to live from our music once. We regard it as an element that connects us all, and ALLFACESDOWN will exist as long as our fans stand behind us.
Music will always be a part of our life, but today we still don’t know what will happen tomorrow. Our time is now, we love what we are doing. We just want to have a fucking good time.

Jeff: What do you think about Main Stream bands? Do you ever wanna be one?

AFD: “Mainstream bands” are also just bands who write the music they like. So I think there is nothing wrong with them. Why should we say something negative about a band just because it is famous? They reached a high status and were maybe working very hard to reach the top. We respect such musicians. We also hope to have a lot of fans someday and if the people like what we’re doing, we maybe have a chance. But we are not the ones who decide that.

Jeff: As far as I'm concerned I couldn't live without music! Tell me, what's your biggest influence, idol

and your favorite band.

AFD: Yes, true! Music is something you cannot simply ban from your life. It is everywhere, and without it, this world would be much too silent and desolate.
Our influences are coming from everywhere. But we can identify ourselves very good with bands like Story of the Year, A Day to Remember, Incubus, Parkway Drive, Silverstein and so on.
